Está lista!!!! / It is ready!!!

Nos parece un sueño, pero ya terminamos. Es increible ver como este sueño se materializa. Lo que empezó con una simple idea, ya es una realidad. Estamos felices. La casa quedó tal y cual nosotros la queríamos.
José Noel (nuestro arquitecto y tambien constructor) hizo un trabajo increible!.
Ya este próximo miércoles es la entrega oficial. Peter y yo queremos pasarnos durante Semana Santa.
Todavía faltan detalles, pero realmente son mínimos.  Todos están super invitados...los esperamos para que compartan esta alegría tan grande con nosotros.

It is like a dream, but we finished the construction. It's incredible to see how this dreams come true. What it began as a simple idea, now it is real. We are very happy. The house is exactly like we imagined. Jose Noel (our arquitect and also the builder) did a great job!.

This coming Wednesday is the official delivery. Peter and I want to move during Holly Week.  We are still missing some details, but they are minimal. You are all more than welcome to visit us.....please come soon,  so you can share with us this happiness.

Esta es nuestra casa en diciembre 2011 / This is our house in December 2011

Amigos, así vamos en diciembre. Ya se le va viendo forma!. La semana que viene empezamos la obra blanca y nuestro arquitecto estima que en 2 meses estará lista, es decir para fines de febrero. No creemos lo que dice y nuestra expectativa es que para la Semana Santa ya podamos pasarnos.  Espero que les guste y saben que siempre serán bienvenidos.
Los seguiremos poniendo al tanto.

Friends, this is the house in December. It is taking shape!. Next week we will start work on the interior finish and our arquitect believes that the house will be ready in 2 months, at the end of February. We don't believe that and our expectation is that for the Easter week we can move to the new house.  I hope you like it and you know that you will always be welcome at our new house.
We will keep you posted.

Miren donde vamos! / Look where we are now!

Han sido dos meses de mucho trabajo y de gastar mucho $$$$!.

Aunque no lo crean hasta ahora en lo que más hemos gastado es en lo que está enterrado, es decir, en las fundaciones de la casa.

Es muy emocionante ver cada semana el progreso.  Peter y yo estamos disfrutando al máximo este proyecto, excepto cuando el arquitecto llama a pedir plata o cuando la administración de la parcelación llama a poner quejas sobre los trabajadores.....en fin, creo que eso es parte de la aventura.  Actualmente estamos ya en el proceso de escoger los materiales para el terminado de la casa, es decir, los pisos, baños, cocina y el exterior. Hay tantas decisiones para tomar!!!.
Cuentennos que piensan.

These have been days of intensive work and spending a lot of $$$$!.
Believe it or not, so far we have spent a lot of money in the part of the house that is buried, we mean, the foundations of the house.
It is very exciting to see the progress each week. Peter and I are enjoying to the maximum this project, except when the arquitect calls to ask for money or when the administration of the property calls to complain about the workers......anyway, I think this is part of the adventure.  Currently we are in the process of selecting materials fot the finished of the house: floors, bathrooms, kitchen and the exterior.  There are so many decisions to make!!!.

Ya empezamos la construcción / We started construction!!

Casi que no.....muchas dudas sobre si continuabamos o no. Mirando el presupuesto, el diseño, esperando a que la tasa de cambio dolar-peso mejorara.....pero al fin nos decidimos y vamos a seguir con nuestro proyecto sueño.  Aqui están las primeras fotos de la construcción inicial de la fundación de la casa.

Finally!!!....we had many questions regarding to move forward with the project or stop. We reviewed our budget, the design, we were waiting for the Peso-USD exchange rate to improve......but we made our minds up and we will continue with our dream project. Here are the first photos of initial construction of the foundation. 

Cambios en el plano / Changes in the design

Justo antes de empezar la construccion, estabamos revisando otra vez el plano  (era la revision número un millon y algo), decidimos hacer unos cambios en la cocina y adicionar un baño para que cada alcoba tenga su propio cuarto.  Qué les parece???

Just before starting construction, we reviewed the designed again ( it was revision one thousand and something), we decided to make changes in the kitchen and add a new bathroom so each bedroom has its own.  What do you think?.

Ya casi empezamos construcción / We are about to start construction

Estamos felices!. Ya casi empezamos nuestra casita. La meta es que el 1 de abril empezamos la construcción. Los permisos finalmente ya salieron y en este momento ya estamos dándole la revisión a los últimos detalles de la casa.  Espero que les guste el diseño exterior. Quisimos hacerla moderna.
Qué opinan?

We are very happy!. We are about to start our house. Our target is to begin construction on April 1st. The construction permits are ready and we are doing last revisions to the design. We hope you like the exterior of the house with a modern design. What do you think?

En que estamos / Where we are now...

En este momento estamos recopilando todo los papeles necesarios para obtener el permiso de construccion. Ayer recibimos el estudio de suelos.

At present, we are preparing all the paperwork needed to get permits to start construction. Yesterday we obtained the soil study.

El diseño de la casa / The design of the house

Aqui es donde empieza el dolor de cabeza. Inicialmente queríamos una casa pequeña de 250 mt cuadrados y ya vamos en 310 mt cuadrados. Por supuesto, el bolsillo es el que más nos preocupa.
La casa será de un solo piso y aqui está el plano.

Here is where the headache starts. Initially, we wanted a small house 250 square meters and now we are designing a house of 310 square meters.  Obviously, our budget is the most concerning part.

The house will have one story and here is the design.

El lote está en la parcelación El Refugio. A 8 minutos del aeropuerto de Medellín y a 40 minutos de la ciudad.
La vereda se llama El Tablazo y tiene un clima agradable con temperatura entre 14-20 grados centígrados.
El lote tiene 2.300 mt cuadrados, de los cuales 1000 mt cuadrados son planos y el resto inclinados, lo cual permite tener una vista preciosa sobre el valle.

The land is in the property of El Refugio. 8 minutes from Medellín's airport and 40 minutes from the city.



The neighbordhood is called El Tablazo and has a nice weather with temperatures ranging from 14-20 celsius.

The piece of land has 2.300 square meters, of those 1000 are flat and the rest are in a slope. This makes the land to have a beautiful view over the valley.
